Ski The "Greatest Snow On Earth"!

What makes Utah's snow so great is due to the lake effect. When a storm rolls through the Great Salt Lake Valley it pulls the moisture from the Great Salt Lake and dumps it onto the mountains in the form of dry powder. Many of the ski resorts benefit from the salty lake effect making the snow the “greatest snow on earth’!

There are a total of  thirteen downhill resorts all together in Utah . Of the thirteen, seven are world-class ski resorts and most provide great slopes, amenities, shops, restaurants, and lodging. During the 2002 Olympic Winter Games most of the resorts hosted some of the world's top athletes.

Most all of these resorts are within driving distances of Salt Lake City.

Skiing in Utah typically starts mid-to-late-November, and usually lasts through April.
